"Well done my good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:21. Annie LeBlanc Russo, 90, native of Paincourtville and resident of Belle Rose, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, after a tough and courageous battle with cancer. She was known by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Annie was the true matriarch of the family, her strong work ethic and love for her family kept them together. Her devout faith was shown through her actions and life, so much so that it caused many to convert. She was a woman who loved unconditionally and gave of herself freely to assist anyone in need. Many friends have said, "She was a beautiful woman inside and out". She was a strong woman having to provide for her family, living through the depression and "Great Flood". A void has been left that will never be filled for a life that touched so many in so many ways. Annie was a founding member of D.A.A.R.C. and served on the Board of Directors for many years. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Linda and Donny O'Neal, Peggy and Neil Hebert, Patrice and Keith "Tweet" Arvel, and Annette and Ehren "Wheeler" Oschwald; sons and daughters in law, Paul and Karen Russo and Vince and Dawn "Bette" Russo; sisters, Shirley Naquin (Irvin) and Lena Jacobsen; brother in law, Fallon "Bing" Lopez; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter J. Russo, Sr.; daughter, Maria Russo and son, Peter J. "Chico" Russo, Jr; parents, Charley and Clara Crochet LeBlanc; sisters, Hilda Rodrigue, Ruby Moon, Delta Campo, and Stella Lopez; and a brother, Felix LeBlanc. Visitation will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 9 am until 12:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Jules Catholic Church at 1:00 pm. Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Ray Oschwald, Vance Russo, Taylor O'Neal, Justin Hebert, Donny O'Neal, and Stan Ard. Casey Orvel will serve as honorary pallbearer. The support and outpouring of love has been greatly appreciated by the family. We want to thank her nurse, Danielle; sitters, Lillie, Julie, Sherri, Catherine, Margaret, Sharon, Robin L., and Robin R.; Sisters of Mt. Carmel; Rev. Matt Graham and the St. Jules Parish Priests of years past; and especially her neighbors, Vickie, Sally, and Grace who provided company, TLC, and sweet treats that she thoroughly enjoyed. We want to also thank all of our friends and family for their love and support. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day. 2 Timothy 4:7.
